Wardrobe size. Is that too little or too much?
And how does it compare to yours?

You have a lot of clothes. Do you feel like you need more?
It's not really worthwhile to compare wardrobe sizes IMO. What prompted you to ask the question I guess?
I always feel i have nothing interesting to wear despite trying different styles.
I always try to pare down my wardrobe personally even though I want more and more
Like, ofc i can dress in any style, but when i go my wardrobe in the morning i feel like... "same old stuff"
I think you could try experimenting with different fits? I know you have a lot of patterns but silhouettes could be interesting to work with
Maybe big shirt small pants one day and small shirt big pants another?
I am trying. Moreover, i posted this because in the same time when i go shopping i feel like there is nothing new i can get (Save for some showy extremely expensive items)
If you're feeling like you don't have options then I'd take Charli's advice and look at paring down maybe
I don't think you should actively be buying stuff if you're not satisfied with your wardrobe, might be worth stepping back and looking at your style as a whole
like finding inspiration, other people whose style you like. figuring out what you actually want out of your wardobe
it could also be worth putting together some personal inspo to get an idea of maybe theres some incongruency between that and your wardrobe
People whose style I like... it is complicated. One of the reasons I am here is searching for things.
I started by getting everything i did not like donated, sold or thrown out.
It kinda worked. But its autumn! Time for some best outfits.
Some guys here do it better than any stylists i know
I've been paring down my wardrobe recently
It's actually a lot easier to out together something I like without overwhelming options
Especially when I don't actually like a lot of those options
I kept only what I like. Had like 2x of that last year.
I think what allows me to still get a lot of wear out of my (comparatively) small wardrobe is the variety in silhouettes, as charli suggested. Rather than swapping out individual articles for similarly shaped but with a different color/pattern, playing with silhouette can really change the way a piece functions proportionally depending on what its paired with.
Alright. So, i get it that the general line is to not expand it yet.
Well expand or not I think if you were to keep adding things that are shaped the same you might continue to miss the opportunity to branch out this way. I think the size of the wardobe is secondary.
100% agree that silhouette variety is the biggest thing I want in new pieces for my wardrobe
I like to have a wide variety of cuts/fits of pieces so I can mix and match and change up my silhouette
Ya and I don’t need a garment of every color in a particular cut. Sometimes I might feel like I need 5 different colors of a style of pants but in reality I can get away with 1 or 2 colors
Imo if you only have one idea of how something should fit you will inevitably get bored with your clothes
I am not exactly hot so its more complicated xD
I disagree! Don’t let negative feelings about your appearance control you, anyone can dress well
Would say you could probably use more variety in cuts and widths rather than just color/pattern/brands (from what I’ve seen of your outfits)
My wardrobe is smaller than yours but I rotate clothing frequently, usually once every 6 months to a year I’ll take inventory and pick out some things to sell that aren’t getting much wear
Helps keep it fresh. But even still I think the feeling of “I have nothing to wear!” Is somewhat normal hahaha
True @mewball
Really cool to see your wardrobe. I got in some trouble in here for posting your outfits to inspo by a mod thinking I meant to be mean spirited, but you have some seriously cool stuff. Despite it being different from what the ‘MFA’ standard look is, it’s cool to see the thought process behind how you style such out there items. I’ve recently been reading about the beginnings of modern fashion and the transition between ornament as a power signifier and tastefulness, and you’re like a modern day Napoleon. Really cool collection and I’m looking forward to more of your posts.
Thanks! A mod seems to have removed your inspo post back then too.
I struggle a lot with buying new stuff when I'm bored of my wardrobe. I definitely need to listen to mew's advice and try to take inventory and get rid of stuff I don't wear. would probably be a good way to remind myself of cool clothes I have forgotten about
It’s also a way to raise more money for new
yeah i just sold a bunch of stuff i either don't wear, can't fit into or impulse bought and gonna try to use that to consolidate like 3-4 things i didnt wear into one thing i actually really want
Can you explain what you mean by a modern day napoleon?
Yeah, I’ve been reading Mallarme, Wilde, and Stendhal and going back to Napoleon’s aesthetic concerns. You know all the pictures of the ermine stoles and vibrant purple, red, and blue outfits? Essentially, Napoleon was the first person to take history’s aristocratic dress and tie it in with other considerations like utility, personal style, and fashion as we know it today. While having unlimited power and resources, he refined what he had specifically to his taste. I’ve wondered what a modern day version of this might look like, and I think @DarkSerenityX is a great example. It’s something I’m personally interested in seeing. It’s the tying together of dress to show power (standard aristocratic dress like mink stoles and Tyrian purple dye resurfaced today maybe through Phillip Plein branding or a python blazer) with personal discretion (seeing the theme of his recent intro to fall outfit).
only guy to back up his wild takes with actual citations 😭
And he suffered for it…
