Bass Weejuns - heel slip (& fit check)
I’ve been trying to find loafers but there aren’t many easily available options where I live. And I have somewhat wide feet.
I just got some discounted Weejuns and they fit pretty well I think. One issue though is that my right foot is slightly smaller than my left and when I walk the heel slips out. Is there anything I can do to help with this, like put in some kind of insert?

You can put a tongue insert or heel insert to make the fit a little tighter. I’d probably go with a heel pad here
Easily purchased on amazon
Like this sort of thing?
I have the same problem, my left foot is one full brannock size smaller than my right foot. I’ve tried all sorts of combinations of heel pads, tongue pads, and other inserts, and I’ve generally found that tongue pads are cheapest way to reduce heel slip. You can get tongue pads of different thicknesses depending on how much smaller your smaller foot is.
If you’re really motivated (and want to spend a bit more), you can get custom inserts from an shoe orthotics shop. I had bad heel slip on some camp moccasins, and they were able to put a full foot insert in both shoes that made the shoes much more comfortable and also eliminated the heel slip. This was somewhere between $50-100, I don’t really remember.
Tongue pads are better for loafer adjustment than heel pads.
Expect some heel slip in loafers, especially when new, but it shouldn’t be enough that you need to alter your gait to keep them on
