X11 Updated, Games No Longer Working
X11 Updated last night and since then Wine does not seem to be working. Games which take 40+ seconds to load are not running less than 2 seconds after launch.
Here is one of the last play logs, as you can see its completely blank.
Wine Command:
I have rebooted the system (twice), no change.
obviously it might not be the X11, for example samba also updated but something is being hinky.
I updated to the newest wineGE, no change

did you reboot after update?
typical-coralOP•2y ago
yes
robust-apricot•2y ago
can you post the whole log
(full log would also have other stuff in it about your system and configs, even if the games dont launch)
typical-coralOP•2y ago
side loaded, thats the entire
last play
log
do u want the heroic log?
tried several games so its full of fluff
also probably to big to paste here ...... pastebin?robust-apricot•2y ago
ah sideloaded wont have any useful logs
typical-coralOP•2y ago
what highlighting works for the logs in pastebin?
robust-apricot•2y ago
the heroic log is unlikely to be useful in this case.. side loaded games are kinda tough to debug since they dont really log much
typical-coralOP•2y ago
very wierd that they dont 😦
robust-apricot•2y ago
any way you could run it from gog?
which i assume is the case since steam just works 😛
typical-coralOP•2y ago
even trying to run an installer exe is doing nothing
something is terminating wine itself, before the actual apps get involved
even though it was working yesterday
and thats across all games, pre-DX (glide, voodoo, etc games) DX9 and DX11 games
robust-apricot•2y ago
sounds maybe video driver related.. can you give any details about your config 😛 i basically have no idea what you are on or how things are set up
typical-coralOP•2y ago
as well as simple installers which have no graphics card impact at all
robust-apricot•2y ago
anyway yeah battletech is on steam or gog, so can you run it from the store?
is there a reason its side loaded
typical-coralOP•2y ago
sigh, i was thinking the same thing, i was hoping there wouldnt be a conformation
let me quickly test a linux native game
robust-apricot•2y ago
battletech works better in wine 😛
typical-coralOP•2y ago
nods
on average we get about 120KB/s with about 1.2secs latency

?

our internet connection is not good enough to allow 3+ GB's of files to download
heck, with all the restarts, even a 600MB dropbox backup can take 72+ hrs (because it keeps dying half way through)
robust-apricot•2y ago
so.. thats the reason its side loaded?
typical-coralOP•2y ago
nods, download managers allow resuming
anything else is basically pointless
heck, about half the time i have to restart my system updates because it crashes in the middle of the download
thankfully system updates are normally only 5MB-ish
robust-apricot•2y ago
can you tell me literally anything about your computer since you dont have logs
typical-coralOP•2y ago
not everyone lives in america or brittian with amazing internet!!!!
heck we cant even get spaceX satelite internet because the gov is blocking it
robust-apricot•2y ago
sure thats fine, but you arent answering the question
what are your specs
what os
what driver versions
typical-coralOP•2y ago
zorin16 (ubuntu20)
geforce gtx 1660
nvidia-470
got to turn off for about 20mins, inverter needs modification
@Allora back....
sry about that
a linux native game seems to run fine
so if it is a gfx driver issue, its a flatpak driver issue, not system
vicious-gold•2y ago
zorin/ubuntu 20 is terrible for gaming
I would recommend using something newer
robust-apricot•2y ago
sorry i was sleeping, but same notes as above.. Its not the best distro to game on
typical-coralOP•2y ago
ok, thanks
