Nginx with subdomain

Howdy! I am trying to self host Coder behind an Nginx reverse proxy under a subdomain. When I access Coder using IP (example: 123.123.12.12:9999) if works just fine. However, when I try to access it via my subdomain (example: coder.example.com) a number of API calls fail. Has anyone ran into a similar issue?
