RDR2 Loads and then Black Screens
It finishes loading, and ends up with a black screen. Using Heroic Games Launcher for an Epic Games copy of RDR2 in the Steam Deck. Any ideas on what I can do about this?

try using Wine-GE-Proton8-17 (you can install it using the wine manager section in heroic, then set that wine in the game's settings)
there's a proton error in your logs
if it still fails share a new log using that wine

upon doing that, I managed to get a little farther, and it went onto showing a logo but not even the game, just the unfolding of the logo ran like 1 fps. I closed it and retried, back to a regular black screen after the loading bar finishes

I think you are looking at the general game defaults settings, not the RDR2 settings, you have this in the log

gotcha, it was a pop down type thing. it was on, turned it off, but launching it still has the same end result. “Active keyboard layout flags” for 1000 lines seem to be almost the entirety of the Log.

from that last log, the gameMode is still enabled
I'm not sure what else to try though, I don't have the game to check here either, maybe somebody else has other ideas

I can't actually read the log because it's a Google doc but you might try wine ge 8-15
I haven't played Red Dead in quite a long time so I can't remember if there's a cutscene when it first starts. (I also own it on steam, tho that probably wouldn't make a difference) I have one game that has cutscenes at the start and for whatever reason anything newer than I believe 8-15 will not play the video. There is not really any noticeable difference in the logs between the two versions of wine so it might be something similar happening here.

How do I update the log? It's pretty large
