Library doesn't stop loading / can't log out
Didn't open Heroic for a longer time. When I start it, the icon on the upper left (the reload icon) doesn't stop spinning. Then I tried to logout form epic, but it doesn't do anything.
Is this known? what should I do?

Also no log in heroic itself
wine manager also doesn't load. but my internet works fine
EOS overlay also doesn't updating
don't know why that all doesn't work.
seems like heroic has no internet connection
I really don't want to reset heroic..
constant-blue•2y ago
is epic blocked in your country or smth?
hmm weird
thats quite odd
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
Nah.
but after restarts I could now log out and in again.
everything seems to work now. except updating the EOS overlay.
It just says updating but nothing happens
constant-blue•2y ago
Weird
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
ye

We would need a heroic log to debug any of these issues with you
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
log has 0 bytes lol
don't know why
quick phone photo, sorry

eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
what is happening
constant-blue•2y ago
You get it from heroic
its sidebar > settings > log
i think
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
there is nothing
or "no log file"
constant-blue•2y ago
This

constant-blue•2y ago
are you saying this isnt there
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago

eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
last log is the same
constant-blue•2y ago
Wth is going on here lmao
can you restart heroic?
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
don't ask me :KEKW:
I already did couple of times
constant-blue•2y ago
then after, try again or look at last log
try clicking last log
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
but games work, sooooo :Shruge:
so..
everything seems to work
except
log files aren't created and can't update eos overlay
oh wait, there is a checkmark in settings - advanced - disable logs :ICANT:
I'm pretty sure I didn't pressed that. whatever.
then the only thing is the eos overlay
ok, that worked now too.
what was going on there.
log for updating the overlay looks a bit strange imo

"something is probably gonna go wrong soon" :KEKL:
constant-blue•2y ago
@basti hmm are you doing this on a sideloaded game
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
hm?
I was updating the eos overlay in settings - advanced
also, I don't have any side loaded games in heroic
constant-blue•2y ago
oh interesting
this might be a heroic bug then
@CommandMC what do you think
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
the log thing was my fault. everything else was really strange :Hmm:
That log's normal, it doesn't actually cause any issues
Well, the EOS Overlay is supposed to be displayed in the sidebar, and that's not happening because of this, but it should still work
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
I have the same issue again, like in the opening post. Refresh icon keeps spinning, can't log out. oof...
even restarting didn't work.
But I have a log, need to upload it...
Also the log says this is no steam deck, but it is. I have a OLED deck now.
ok, don't know if I need to upload log..
sensitive-blue•2y ago
always upload a log
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
legendary log says I need to login again, because credentials no longer valid.
but I can't logout. it doesn't do anything if I press that
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
I just can't log out
what file could I delete manually?
or does it not work that way? I have no idea
wow now I could log out. after 10 restarts or something.
Something is not right here. very strange
/home/deck/.var/app/com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl/legendary
This path is strange, did you specify your own Legendary binary? Do you know its version (ideally commit ID)?
Heroic relies on Legendary deleting the user data if you're logged out, this was bugged in the latest release of Legendary. We thus ship a slightly newer version bundled with Heroiceastern-cyanOP•2y ago
Yeah, I had a different one.
(because I always got some error with the packed in one) I deleted that now, because you update it and now the error is gone.
Maybe that's why it was so strange.
but I used the same binary when I made the post back in October.
Nonetheless. Maybe if you give the option to use a different binary, everything else should still work. :hmm:
Heroic generally trusts the user to know more than it. That's the same reason you can configure things like your Wineprefix location, freely switch between Wine & Proton, or do this
Other than that, we can't magically make a bugged Legendary binary work correctly
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
bugged? because it didn't log me out? everything else worked.
I would have never used that if heroic had a newer legendary version.
I had this Unicode error (I think it was) for months
but oh well. I guess I'll see if that happens again
bugged? because it didn't log me out? everything else worked.Yup, that was the bug. Relevant commit
I would have never used that if heroic had a newer legendary version.Well, older versions of Heroic of course also ship older versions of Legendary. This PR updated Legendary to a non-problematic version (which fixed your Unicode error & already had the logout issue patched) and was included in Heroic 2.10.0. When you specified your own Legendary binary, you might've been on Heroic 2.9.2 (or earlier), meaning Heroic's bundled Legendary still had the Unicode error (and didn't have the logout issue at the time), while the binary you specified didn't have the Unicode issue but now had the logout one TLDR: You should now no longer see either issue
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
yea, I actually forgot I had a different binary.
Btw the Unicode error (which was really annoying) was in heroic since April. That's why I changed the binary in the first place.
But whatever hopefully everything is fine now.
Btw. As you can see in the posted log, it says I'm not on steam deck, but I am (on the OLED one) just want to clarify. 🙂
Oh, they probably changed the PCI IDs for the OLED model
I'll get that fixed up, thanks
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
👍
Heh, you can even see that the PCI IDs aren't in the DB yet. Note the "undefined" here:
GPU 0:
Name: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] undefined
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
Do you need some information from my device, or all good?
for that implementation
The output of
lspci -d 1002:1435 -nn
might be helpfuleastern-cyanOP•2y ago
ok, saw that to late. I can do that tommorow. 😅
Could you also test this PR version of Heroic? It should now detect your OLED model just fine (and display it in the logs / system info settings page)
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
Do I download the app image and just run that?
sorry, but I don't know exactly how that works.
I got heroic flatpak from the discover store
Yup, the AppImage should work (that's what I used on my Deck LCD)
You won't be logged in or anything (so it's not usable for general use, unless you use it exclusively), but it should be enough to test this feature
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
ok, I'll give that a try in a bit
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
eastern-cyanOP•2y ago
yep, steam deck OLED :YEP:
I guess I can delete everything in .config/heroic? because I will continue using the flatpak..?
constant-blue•2y ago
I think so yeah.
