How do we feel about flap pockets on the back of dress trousers?

Title, pic for reference. Do we think it makes them too informal for business wear? Does it matter at this point where we're such a casual society? Discuss.

It doesn't matter. That being said they do make pants slightly more casual if I'm remembering right. I like them on most pants personally feels more workwear/old timey

No, as a general rule, not too informal. But certainly less formal.

Yes, if you care, or if someone cares whose opinion matters to you. Otherwise no.

I’m going to be a bit more nuanced. Flaps will definitely make the trousers more casual but more importantly I think it changes the vibe a lot. Flaps on a business suit would be super weird and not look good at all despite it technically being fine. I’d use this detail in more casual tailoring with tweeds and woolen fabrics. It feels very Brycelands/western/milsurp to me which can be mixed with tailoring to great success, but is very casual imo. It won’t break dress codes, but it’s a great detail to help communicate your vibe which is more nuanced and personal (and fun!) than making sure you’re not breaking dress code
