Tailor Recommendations Bay Area

Hi all, I'm looking for tailor recommendations for the SF Bay Area (especially east bay), for tapering and hemming jeans and tapering / daring shirts. I've never done this before and there's a huge range of "typical" prices according to Google, so I'm also wondering how much I should expect to pay? I'm not in any rush, so turn around isn't important to me. Alternatively, if there are redditors here who have tailored your own stuff, was it hard to learn? Thanks so much in advance!

you could even hit up Derek Guy directly and ask him for a recommended tailor maybe, he lives in SF

^^ He mentioned one tailor he uses in his most recent blog post (the part about commissioning a polo coat) but Steed is a bespoke tailor from the UK that travels to SF 3x per year, so definitely not the most convenient. I have some very basic tailoring skills, because my pants size is somewhere around 29x28 and usually I have to get 30x30s. Learning to hem pants is the easiest, waistband is complicated (especially on edges like the seams on jeans), and anything involving shoulders is advanced placement. I learned by developing sewing skills first and then trying to follow tutorials specific to tailoring. If you want to be really good at it, you’ll need to learn from a professional. It’s also quite hard to pin garments up on your own body, especially torso.

Muia's in south san jose. Prices are decent, work is decent. She does most things, but she's an alterationist, not a "real tailor," so don't bring her anything complex (like say taking in sleeves from the top on a sport coat.) She charges around $10 to hem, around $20 for waists, around $20 for shirt sleeves adjustment, around $30 for sport coat sleeve adjustment, etc. Have not asked her to taper jeans or dart shirts. For east bay I don't know, sorry. In SF there are a few as well.

I'm in the bay area too. For basic stuff like hemming pants you can go literally anywhere, it doesn't matter. Should cost like $10.
