No audio in Bioshock 2 Remastered.
Hi!
Not sure what's happening, my other games have audio.
Here's the game log: https://pastebin.com/mLBf2VfU
Also, it starts minimised (i'm using Xfce4), and another game, Loop Hero, when i tried it, also didn't have sound.
Anyone else had this happen?
I played Bioshock 2 Remastered when i was using the iGPU, and it ran fine, had sound and everything. But now that i'm using a dedicated nvidia GPU, it has no sound.
Any ideas on how to fix it? Would be appreciated!

ALSA lib dlmisc.c:339:(snd_dlobj_cache_get0) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so (libpulse.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
That's certainly a clue.equal-jadeOPโข2y ago
Yes, but, what does it mean. ๐
I'm not sure what to do with that.

sounds like you are missing some alsa lib in your system
mainly these packages
alsa-plugins lib32-alsa-plugins alsa-lib lib32-alsa-lib
equal-jadeOPโข2y ago
extra/alsa-lib 1.2.10-2 [installed]
extra/alsa-plugins 1:1.2.7.1-2 [installed]
multilib/lib32-alsa-lib 1.2.10-2 [installed]
multilib/lib32-alsa-plugins 1.2.7.1-2 [installed]
Just checked, all of those are already installed.

can you try running the command with all the dependencies just in case? I don't know if you did that already https://github.com/lutris/docs/blob/master/WineDependencies.md#archendeavourosmanjaroother-arch-derivatives

useful-bronzeโข2y ago
yeah, the one that installs dependencies, in case something else is missing and not the alsa plugins
I mean, the follow the instructions for you OS, there are tree things there

Which i'm not sure i should replace wine with, i use wine for audio plugins and stuff, i'm not sure they'd work with staging.
useful-bronzeโข2y ago
I guess you'll have to try, I don't know either sorry
equal-jadeOPโข2y ago
I guess i could try, but i don't see how that would fix the sound in 1 game, can you elaborate why staging is needed for proton?
Or in general? What's the difference?
useful-bronzeโข2y ago
sorry I don't know the details, I know wine-staging is more up-to-date and I think proton-GE/wine-GE don't ship the whole wine code, I understand they depend on the system's wine for some things
I now see that you mentioned that the sound worked before with the iGPU, maybe try checking the
use dedicated GPU
option in the settings of heroic?equal-jadeOPโข2y ago
So, i replaced wine with wine-staging, and it installed some other stuff as well, and... The sound now works in Bioshock 2.
I'm going to keep wine-staging now, and see if everything else taht i use wine for works as it should later.
Thanks for the help! Hopefully this doesn't break the plugins. ๐
Now, how do i mark this as solved?
useful-bronzeโข2y ago
just marked it as solved ๐
