all td cells the same height?

When that happens, it makes the td’s with only one draft pick stretch to reach the height of the entire tr. how can I make it so those td elements with one draft pick stay at a specific height and align to the top of other td elements within the row?

I don't think you can do that with table cells. You might be able to get the look you want if you wrap your .draft_grid_header and .draft_grid_player elements in a .draft_grid element inside the <td> and apply your border styles to that instead of the table cell.
