Support for Google Photos JSON sidecar files ?
I just downloaded today my GPhotos to switch to Immich (thank you for this project), and I saw that it downloaded JSON sidecar files with them.
When I'll import theses photos (by creating a new external library), will Immich recognize the sidecar files ?

You can use https://github.com/simulot/immich-go for this
It will use the provided info from the JSON files to upload with correct metadata

If you use the library system, JSON files will be ignored, same for album information
immich-go import photos, so you will have a copy in immich. It tries to replicates google data in immich. It recreates albums, and give the date of capture found in JSONs
This is done without forcing the sent of an additional file to the server.does it add the descriptions also? I have manually added a lot of descriptions over the years in gphotos. Alas in my testing of immich-go, this wasn't working.

Yes, immich-go carries description, date of capture, GPS coordinates present in the JSON files... and they are saved in an XMP file by immich
