Sidecar files not read
I have files on the external disk named file001.jpg and the sidecar files are file001.xmp and when I scan with immich, the sidecar files are ignored. If i rename the sidecar to file001.jpg.xmp it works fine
According to the documentation, immich will look at both file001.jpg.xmp and if not found use file001.xmp but it is not working that way.
Browsing the code in github, I see that in metadata.service.ts, this line seems to be the cause
const sidecarPath = asset.sidecarPath ||
${asset.originalPath}.xmp

Successfully submitted, a tag has been added to inform contributors. :white_check_mark:I think the docs should be updated for this case. I don’t see how we can use the path without the file extension because I believe we can have files with different extension and otherwise same name
As in this case the side car will be ambiguous as to what file it’s related to
Please search on GH issues and open a new one if this is not reported
You can please include all you have here
In the meantime, I think running sidecar discovery will find them. Once it’s done, you can re-run metadata extraction on all assets
