Control doesn't launch Steam Deck
I have reinstalled the free copy of control from Epic and I remember I used to be able to play it, but now it doesn't even launch, tried proton experimental, latest wine-ge and latest proton. Sometimes I get to the screen where I can choose DX 11 or DX 12 but the game never launches, I get nothing while heroic displays that my game is running.
Log attached from game. I tried playing around with the settings but failed to figure out what the problem was.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i should try on my deck.. also i cant recall but did control need to open a webpage to associate with egs
i know alan wake uses eos overlay to do this

make sure you have one installed
and make sure if you have one installed it's the default one

how are you starting the game? in desktop mode or game mode?

I'm trying in desktop mode right now with, default firefox browser open, eos enabled
I tried launching from game mode and steam shortcut aswell
I had it installed ages ago when it was free, about a year ago, then uninstalled and installed today. Tried reinstalling 3 times.

I finished Alan Wake 2 and I'm visiting parents, so I guess I'd rather install the beta. Kinda curious about the connection. I used to have it on when it had meaningful features that I wanted to use it's no problem.

try enabling the

I got an additional line in the log saying something about the drfault vk_wayland_wait_ready being overwritten but still didn't start after I pressed the dx11 launch option
Switching to beta channel, will try to run it after install

its a feature in egs for a very long time.. if you've already played control this is unlikely the issue though
its generally for first time installs where the game will register with egs.. but only some games do this and i cant recall if control is one

they definitely are a bit different, alan wake def leans more on horror .. control is a bit more like xfiles vibes i guess

ok loaded it on my steam deck with the 3.5 beta and it starts up just fine.. i didnt even mess with any configuration.. just worked out of box on my deck 🙃

welp, steam beta, default browser and everything didn't work out either
same issue, even let it sit 15 minutes but the game doesn't launch
it's frustrating because it should work and worked before, I just have nothing to go on
other games run fine too. I will try deleting everything heroic, reinstalling and deleting all the prefixes manually, maybe that?

do you have another computer you could try? might be enough at least to associate your game with egs
but like ive been saying, im not even sure this is a thing this game does
i dont recall having to link the game and egs, but i cant remember for sure

I tried removing and reinstalling via the software center but I didn't delete the prefixes and games, I'll try to full update then do that
if it doesn't work then I'll just give up

tbh ive never really had any issues with games on any device ive had heroic on.. so definitely sounds like some weird config
anyway for heroic flatpak you probably want to do this
flatpak update && flatpak install --reinstall com.heroicgameslauncher.hgl

I've ran into some performance problems before with heroic, I think with Death Stranding and especially bad problems with Xcom, but to be honest I just bough them on Steam at that point

I'm pretty sure the game still not launching after all that has something to do with
01b4:err:kerberos:kerberos_LsaApInitializePackage no Kerberos support, expect problems

just as an update, I tried installing it via lutris, installing epic games launcher from lutris then adding the game using the latest wine ge, it doesn't launch either
