Duffle Coats

I’m looking for a heavier coat for US Northeast winters. I was originally going to get an overcoat, but it seems like duffle coats are a better choice for the 20s-low 30s. I saw Gloverall is the go to, but definitely has an older boxier look. I’m torn between the original and the Drake collab. I saw Spier and Mackay also had a nice duffle coat, that looks like it has a bit more modern fit. Do y’all have other recs (for any kinds of heavy wool coats) or info that can help break the tie? Here are the two I like the best right now: https://us.gloverall.com/collections/men/products/drake-duffle-navy# https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/dark-navy-donegal---duffle-coat-8428-dfl1

Duffle coats and overcoats are both made of thick (usually lined) wool. Duffles tend to be shorter but they're not inherently less warm than an overcoat. I.e. a thick duffle is warmer than a thin overcoat

isn't the distinction between a duffle and an overcoat just the closures and the hood?

Hm that’s good to know. I’m definitely not wedded to the hood look, and just thought it was thicker/warmer. Do people have any recs for shops in NYC that have duffle and overcoats? J Press?

J Press is the only one that comes to mind for me, I also find duffle coats in random thrift stores here all the time
