Sunspel cable knit itchy

Just purchased the navy merino wool sunspel cable knit (200 reduced from £300), the colour is decent fits very nicely and I like the design but it is slightly itchy. Should this be the case at this price point or is there no correlation between cost and itchiness? I presumed the wool would have longer and thinner strands so softer. Is there a way around it regarding washing or should I return it and buy a cable knit from another company (suggestions would be appreciated). Happy to send images

No there’s no inherent connection between cost and itchiness

I’ve heard people recommend lanolin conditioner and gently handwashing with woolite It will become less itchy over time as well but may not ever be totally “itchless”

the chunkier the knit, the more likely it is to be slightly itchy, so generally cable knits are going to be more itchy than a fine knit, even from the same place.
