do these look too small on the instep?
I have only worn loafers in terms of leather shoes so I am not sure how these should look on the lace bit. I think they look alright from first impressions!
Dont mind my pajamas ft. My Oodie lol

Do they feel too small?
No they feel perfect tbh, just not sure how the lacing bit should be. Should it not be tighter to hide the diagonal lace?
um, i do my lacing like that a bit different
you only have the one bottom diagonal and the "across" ones go up each side in a "s" pattern
terrible description lol ill try to find a pic
But maybe your particular shoes might not be best for lacng like that since they aren't close like Oxfords
Just casually glancing at my shoes I see that none of my derbies have the "bar" lacing. Only the oxfords. Not that it matters much I suppose.
I mean, you can just change how you’re lacing them if it bugs you
But eyebrow spacing is a function of a lot of things - none of which really indicate an instep “fitting” more than another in terms of open lacing

my shoes came very tightly tied and I think that looked better than when I put them on, but Im thinkinhg maybe thats an unrealistic expectation for derbies?
I suppose mine look quite similar to the picture on the meermin website
It’s entirely dependent on your instep vs the patterning of the shoe. Nothing is indicative of fit with your pair - oxfords have a different, conventionally stricter fitment, but it still wouldn’t really matter
They’re derbies so if they feel comfy then they’re fine
Looks good to me.
Thank you guys!
