Ay Stupid Questions are coming!
Hello, i want to host supabase locally and since i have pro subscription i will use all my pro benefits? and all the data inside the db will be encrypted by supabase or i should hash and encrypt my sensitive data? and what if i didn't paid the bill what will happen to the data etc.. i am really confused

umm if you host locally you don’t get the pro features- those are for the hosting
there are postgres plugins that can handle encryption
Also what Pro encrypting is there versus the free plan? I believe all plans are encrypted at rest for the disk storage. And all support vault or encrypted columns.
But as you said... xxxxxxx Questions are coming 😂
(Gary says to himself hope this user has a sense of humor)
i am a beginner actually im not an expert (flutter) thats why i said this lmao:KEKW: :KEKW: :KEKW: :KEKW: :KEKW: :KEKW: :KEKW:
then why would i subscribe to the plans since i can do this in my home lmao
and this is for like grabbing attention from users
LMAO
:Blablabla:
Well you can use free plans if you are just tooling around and not mess with local stuff. You can use free or pro plans if you have customers and you don't want to deal with keeping a server running and upgrades, etc. I have an app/server I maintain myself (not in my house) for about 10 years and it is somewhat of a pain to keep up with security, upgrades, backups etc of a full server.
I like the concept of someone else deals with all that and I can quickly scale not worry about the latest patches for the OS ,etc.
bro
before reading this
really thanks

look how big is this text you are an amazing mod
i'ev ever seen
Ohhh i got it
yeah actually im scared of security
It is also nice that Supabase gives you the option if you want because of price changes, etc. You can take the code and run it yourself on your own server.
i can like convert from supabase hosting to local if i want?
So there are sort of two concepts. Local dev which is running Supabase in docker locally to do development and self-hosting where you have a full running instance on your own hardware for use with real apps and customers.
i think i'm gonna try supabase hosting because it's more safer
With local development you don't care so much about security and file storage and the like. With Self-hosting you have to deal with all the aspects of what is below Supabase.
If you are just kicking the tires that is the way to start IMO.
What do you recommend bro self hosting or supabase hosting
I personally would not self-host unless the costs of supabase hosting was too high based on my unique load. Supabase charges on specific things. That works well for most, but in some cases you can pay for your own server on the web and it is lower cost.
Just starting out I would not mess with self hosting. But I've never tried it as I moved to Firebase to not deal with hosting and found their plans too costly for what I wanted to do versus Supabase only pricing on egress and compute needs.
yeah i found supabase because firebase is like hospital fees in jordan without an insurance
I assume that is same as hospital fees in the US without insurance...
The nice thing is you don't need to decide on self hosting yet. Take the easy way and just get some stuff going. Self-hosting is a lot more setup work than just create an instance and have a js app work in an hour.
i will go with supabase hosting and i will see the first bill and i will decide
+ they protect my API and database
bro this is amazing really
You can also ask questions about your loads and impact on costs in a new post. You can do alot with free as far as getting up and running if your database size is not over 400MB.
yeah i think this is a good idea
really thanks for help
