I tried generating in root of C:, but that doesn't work either. So I have no clue.

Reference the source generator project from an another project and use the

<EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>true</EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>

<EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>true</EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>

<EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>true</EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>

<EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles>true</EmitCompilerGeneratedFiles> in this new .csproj.
