offline mode is missing
Hi, im having a problem with a game and need to use the offline mode but that option is now missing.
Has that been removed or misplaced in the app change?
It was so much easier with setting in 1 page but now its 4 pages and things come and go.
Now i need to use offline and its gone.
Can you bring it back.
Is this a bug and you forgot to fix it or what?
Ita a great option and fixes bugs in many games on the Steam Deck.
So im hoping its just misplaced and will make a return.
If not, how can i force a game offline and never go online?
Its a launcher. Was told when there is no internet it skips the launcher so that offline mode option is needed here. Right now for me and its not there.

not all games have the option
meaning, some games require an internet connection.. and thus cannot be played offline
(even single player games)

No, ALL of the 3rd party games DID have that option.
Its missing now.

Yea i just found an epic game with that option.
But the 3rd party game doesnt have that option

RiME is a third party game
most of the games on epic are third party?
what even do you mean by that

here's evo land

its always depended on the game, its never been all

A game i set up NOT from a store.
rising-crimson•2y ago
oh you are side loading games?
correct-apricotOP•2y ago
YES, a 3rd party game. Sideloaded. Not from a store.
rising-crimson•2y ago
third party game doesnt mean side loaded.

The use game offline always was there for about 10 months since ive been using heroic on my steam deck.
I need that option now and its not there anymore

i couldnt tell you about side loaded games, they likely go through a different path than store games
they've always had kind of a weird red headed step child status

I dont care. Its not from a store, its a game from the button at the top of the list, you know the ADD GAME button.
Who cares about the game.
The problem here is the "use game offline" button is missing.
rising-crimson•2y ago
huh? i just told you: side loaded games go through a different pathway to launch and get setup.. and its not usually at parity with the store side so its a little weird sometimes. Maybe a bug caused the setting to go away, or some other issue forced something to change.. like i said, just now above, i couldnt tell you exactly.
im not talking about a specific game
you are welcome to report the bug on github, as the help stuff generally suggests.. or look at the code and find where things went wrong and set up a pull request
atm i cant really do anything about the button not being there
correct-apricotOP•2y ago
I dont know how to use github.
I tried and just cant. Its a mess.
Thats why i came here in the support page to get support and if it is a bug then hopefully you van help and report it and get it fixed.

one of the devs will see this thread too eventually so they might be able to comment

the offline mode is only made for epic games
it just disables authentication
and the game is offline
for sideloaded games it didn't change anything

Then can it be fully implemented?
Some games run so much quicker amd better offline.
The internet connection can slow some games down.

to clarify: the
offline
option for sideloaded games was never doing anything at all
when you add a sideloaded game it can be literally anything, there's no way for us to implement something that would prevent any kind of software you add there to work offline, every application can do whatever they want
you are better using some firewall in your system to block the connections instead, there's no way for us to implement such feature
