(Steam Deck) Ghostwire Tokyo not launching in gaming mode

Got the game off of Epic for free. Spent over an hour wrestling just to get the cutscene running (usually a black screen, got it to run with proton ge and "use steam runtimes"), but it only runs in desktop mode, which doesn't allow for any usable controls. Any workaround to get it running in gaming mode?

have you tried holding the 3-lines button for a while to change the controller layout to game mode when you are in desktop mode? that changes control to work as if the steamdeck is in game mode

I mean this button, at least for me, pressing it for a second in Desktop mode changes the controller layout to game mode (it shows a little popup at the bottom right corner with a notification sound so you should know it worked)

then you should be able to play the game in desktop mode I just tested this on my steam deck: - Wine-GE-Proton-8-25 - Check "Prefer System Libraries" - Uncheck "Use Steam Runtime" - Works on both Desktop and Gaming modes

This is exactly what I needed. Not ideal, but damn does this work better than screwing around with settings for hours.

same thing it works on the desktop mode but not in game mode, no idea why? should this be considered a bug?
