RM Williams - tight heel

I just picked up some RM Williams Comfort Craftsman. I have a rather large and oddly shaped foot, so I went with the 10.5 Wide Fit. I usually wear a size 11, but I heard most people need to size down for RMs, so I went down a half. Generally, I'd say they fit quite well for the most part. Nothing feels excessively tight - plenty of room up near the front. However the inside part of the heel feels a bit tighter than normal. It's like it's rubbing against my foot directly. Since it's leather, I know things will generally wear in a bit, though I've also heard RMs should fit comfortably day one to ensure they're the right ones. Can anyone with experience - be it with RMs themselves or other leather boots (and oddly shaped feet) weigh in?

Oh! One thing I need to concede though, I don't really have business socks/thin socks atm - cycling out my old wardrobe! I am hoping to receive some thinner ones soon, so maybe that will also help with their fit.

Own the same model. It's a tighter fit in general compared to other off the rack Chelsea boots. Especially the boot shaft area You could use some lexol conditioner on the area to make it softer and break in quicker Or just return if it's not a good fit. Everyone's feet are unique and not all footwear lasts work for everyone

See, I tried to get sized at the actual RM Williams store about a year ago and generally had the same issue, they didn't have a 10.5 at the time though I wouldn't say they're painful now, but given how expensive these retail for these days, I don't wanna gamble on it wearing in necessarily haha

Blundstone have a dress Chelsea with a slimmer profile which may work for you If you're Aus / NZ based

Give me a moment, I'll markit out More around this area - only on the inside. Outside feels fine. Kind of feels like my foot is bulging out a bit As I said, it's not painfully tight, but it is still tight No issue with back of the heel/heel slip

that's normal as long as it doesn't hurt your feet i don't think i've ever noticed it personally

You reckon it gets a bit more comfortable after a while? I'm also not used to wearing leather footwear FWIW

leather almost always gets more comfortable with age

I figure so long as it's not entire foot width/length that's uncomfortable, it should be ok.

that particular section might be a bit more uncomfortable because there's a bit of reinforcement for the heel. so as long as it's not hugely uncomfortable, the leather should get softer with time.

I notice as well if I place my feet on the floor, and shift my feet a bit they're quite comfortable. Might just be a bit of getting used to. Thinner socks will help initially too I think Honestly, not even an hour later and they're feeling a bit better...

Can we see pics looking straight down from the top? Both front and back? It looks like you might have some welt spillage, in which case, they’re too small Hard to tell from the angles in your pics though

Sure - give me moment and I'll grab some pics. I've been wearing them for a couple hours now and they feel like they're setting in a bit more
