Red Dead Redemption 2 black loading screen then crashes

This is on the steam deck btw. EOS Overlay update available: 1.2.7++EOSSDK+Release-Overlay-CL-25975892-Windows (Current: 1.2.6++EOSSDK+Release-Overlay-CL-21323361-Windows). switched to proton experiemental and now i am getting steam api init failed

this will always happen with proton... anyway you need to post the whole log to figure anything out

use wine-ge proton doesnt give logs

Using Wine-GE will likely solve the other issue too
