has it worked before?
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
nope, this is my first setup and installs
just moved from Windows to Linux
deep-jade•2y ago
have you tried to repair the game?
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
i used the uninstall option then reinstalled it but didnt make any difference
oh and yes I went into the repair option as well
deep-jade•2y ago
do you know if you absolutely need gamemode? i think that's only for specific anti-cheat
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
I'm not familiar with it. I just recently watched a How-to install League from Linux and they pointed out to download Heroic
normally I just download League straight from Riot site
deep-jade•2y ago
in the game's settings, turn off Use Gamemode
i think
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
this is an unusual routo for me in Linux so I
deep-jade•2y ago
if that doesn't work, send a new log
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
I'm new to this method of getting games to Linux
deep-jade•2y ago
yeah, that's fine
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
alright
wait, where do I go to turn off Use Gamemode?
don't think I
've seen that option anywhere
deep-jade•2y ago
in the game's settings within heroic
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
disabled Use Gamemode and clicked Play Now, still doesn't load the game

Vulkan N/Ayou could try disabling DXVK/VKD3D and pray that it runs with openGL otherwise, I don't think you'll be able to play in Linux because of the lack of Vulkan
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
are those located in settings as well?
unwilling-turquoise•2y ago
yes
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
there doesn't seem to be specific options to disable the ones you mentioned
looked in game settings and Heroic settings
the ones that mention them are for installing
unwilling-turquoise•2y ago
if checking the box is for installing, it is by implication that unchecking the box would be uninstalling. do that
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
aight, unchecked and retried, still nothing
gonna uninstall and retry
nope, still nothing

looks like it's not possible on linux? if i understand what term is saying
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
looks like back to Windows lol ðŸ˜
'I'm wowed over Zorin OS tho, I like the distro
unwilling-turquoise•2y ago
I can detail why I think it won't work for you in long form so you understand. Gaming in Linux is largely dependent on a graphics API called Vulkan. DXVK/VKD3D translate DirectX API calls to Vulkan. OpenGL is another graphics API that is pretty old and not really used anymore. a brief search shows that LOL's OpenGL compatibility ended when Zoe was introduced to the game
so the game is left with DirectX rendering, which has to be translated to Vulkan on Linux
I find that GPUs older than 10 years old have the real possibility of not supporting Vulkan
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
I see. My Windows can still run League (with the current GFX). I installed Linux under the impression it could run the game as well, but rip
unwilling-turquoise•2y ago
your card does support DirectX, which is why it works in Windows
deep-jade•2y ago
LoL is going to be unplayable on Linux next month anyway when it moves to kernel-level anticheat.
vicious-goldOP•2y ago
Not only that but Windows 10 is only supported til 2025 😂 and my system can't upgrade to 11. Gonna need to get a new computer soon I suppose.
