check board status failure
Hi there, I am in the process of setting up my v-core3, using the RatOS configuration. The octopus 1.1 was not detected. After inserting the sd-card with firmware.bin the "chack board status" leads nowhere. What can I do?

did you confirm that the file changed to firmware.cur? Do you have everything unplugged from the octopus except for power and USB to the pi?
Everything is unplugged, except the USB. How do I confirm the change to .cur?
take the SD card out and connect it to your computer and see the filename
I am on a Mac. That doesn't read files on the SD card. 😦
not sure, I don't own a Mac. Are you powering the octopus through the USB or do you have separate power to it?
The octopus gets its power through USB
I'd recommend updating RatOS and the RatOS configurator and then use manual DFU mode instead, if you're struggling with the SD card.
Thanks everybody! I redid all steps with new sd cards. I am still stuck. Check board status has no reaction. There is a dialog from etcher after selecting firmware.bin to write to the card. Can you tell if it is OK to continue? @miklschmidt How do I use DFU mode?
1) You're not supposed to use etcher to put the firmware binary on the sd card for flashing the board. It's not a disk image. Format the card as instructed and drag and drop the firmware.bin file onto it like it was a usb stick.
2) If you're struggling with SD card flashing, try manual dfu mode (it's enabled on the octopus if you update RatOS and the RatOS configurator through mainsail in the machine tab (located at
/config
instead of /configure
).@miklschmidt Thank you so much, it worked! The board flashed. Unfortunatly Klipper did not run. So I chut down mailsail through the UI to start again. But now I can not connect to the PI. Do you have any clou why?
So I chut down mailsail through the UI to start again.I'm assuming you mean you shut down the pi through mainsail ?
But now I can not connect to the PI. Do you have any clou why?Yeah, it's off. You'll have to turn it off and on again for it to boot back up. (remove power and plug it back in).
Okay, I did that. Was able to connect. Tried to reach the board. Failed. Tried to flash through DFU again, but this time it did not work.
This can happen if you try and flash a board without the pi being connected to the internet (ie. wifi with internet).
there's a warning about this in the documentation
Installing RatOS | RatOS
Raspberry Pi Installation
It's most likely fine, continue to mainsail and see if it works.
@miklschmidt Oh no, It turns out, I wasn't connected to the internet and wasn't aware of it. So I did it again. Now everythings looks fine. I will go on with wiring etc. Sorry to bother you and thank you very much! 🙂
