How to wear taller women's boots

These are women's Red Wing Heritage boots, and I really like them. No idea if I can fit in them. I don't even know if I necessarily want to show off the whole height, but I wouldn't opposed. Any advice on how to make these work? Should I even bother?

I think with some shoes/trainers/boots, the "womens" pair have a narrower size/shape? It varies, but that's the input I got so far lol Also, if you didnt tell me these were women boots, I'd have guessed they were male/unisex

the good thing abt tall boots is u get to decide how much u wanna show. def check the sizing diff, but honestly you'd wear these the same way you'd wear the mens version

get big chunky ones like from a PNW maker. Big packer boots can be fun. Standard & Strange also sells some tall boots and has fits posted on their IG

Thanks, I'll check that out Yeah, they're B instead of D width, but I fit better in a C anyway, so I'm not too worried. Sure, that makes sense! Phew, the Standard & Strange selection is gorgeous. I'll check out fits with those. Alright, looked around and I think I'd go with a pair of Nick's moc toes if I decide to get something like this

Closest I could find that I could get custom fit for.

FYI I'm unsure what their lead-times are for custom orders atm

women's b width is equivalent to a men's c

You should definitely get your proper Brannock size before ordering structured footwear like this.

Well, Red Wings used that fancy scan machine on me when I got my first pair

Shoe store employees, even at very very nice stores, often know very little about fit and sizing. The Red Wing machine doesn't tell you the most important thing about your feet: your heel to ball size.

Does it not? Let me check

I've written up a short explanation of why it's important here: https://weltedwiki.com/introduction/brannock/

I've sized over 100 people by now, and not a single one of them has reverted back to sizing off of their heel to toe. feel free to tag me if you have any questions

But you're saying I should pick up my own Brannock and do my own measurements then?

Yes The Brannock is the only thing in the whole nice footwear hobby that saves you money

I was able to try out a Brannock device and I'm lucky that my size was just about the same as what my heel-to-toe resulted in. However, if I were to get some more custom boots, I'm sure both feet would thank me for getting a size 9.25 with an in-between D/E width. So it was interesting. And helpful. Thank you for the advice, and I might still get my own Brannock to be extra sure. Ended up getting a bit of a deal on Red Wing 2217s, and I had a lil gift card for the store from xmas, which is why I was specifically looking at the Red Wing catalog. But yeah, I definitely paid more attention to chunky boots thanks to your suggestion. These things seem fucking serious, so I'm gonna wear them for dirty work, but also as fashion boots. I'm excited about the idea, and if I really like them, I'll definitely get some taller PNW boots as a dedicated fashion pair. Thanks so much! The heel-to-ball measurement helped a lot too. I spent a long ass time comparing 9.5s and 10s, making sure to figure out the best spot for the ball of the foot. I think I would have gone with the 9.5s before measuring heel-to-ball, but the 10s get the ball right around the widest part of the boot. Kinda slots in. Appreciate the advice, and hopefully I did well by it.🤞 Feels correct at least.
