The game won't open when I try to open it. It says "migration failed."

I've tried following the guide that pops up on Google Chrome, but nothing seems to help.

You followed this guide? (https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/wiki/Basic-tModLoader-Usage-FAQ#migration-failed) Did you try reinstalling OneDrive? And did you enable the "Always save on this device" option for your Documents folder inside of OneDrive? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/reinstall-onedrive-0660f354-6a69-46eb-b817-7f4e0d7b45b5

I didn’t try reinstalling it because me and my mom were worried we’d lose it. I tried to find the “always keep on this device” but the option cannot be found anywhere I have windows 10, if that helps Yes, that’s the one I also tried to find and delete the “dire cosmos of nausea” world, since that’s the seemingly corrupted file (as shown in the image) but it wouldn’t let me delete it

Save data (for worlds and players) is stored in your OneDrive documents folder, separate from the game files Is OneDrive running on your machine?

We were worried of losing everything that’s on it, not just the game files How could I check?

What are you worried about losing exactly?

We have images and other documents saved on their because it’s my mom’s one drive, she’s just worried we’d lose them if we delete it and reinstall

There should be a white or blue OneDrive cloud on the bottom right of your taskbar - if not in the chevron pop-up menu

No - deleting the game folders inside the SteamLibrary directory will not affect your player/world save files Did you try finding that file in OneDrive and deleting it, if that world is just corrupted/lost? And are there any backups you could maybe use instead? Also, it looks like that's a save file from the tModLoader preview version, so are you needing to migrate that file, or should it just be deleted?

on that cloud its saying i need to sign in again, so ill try that real quick finished signing in again tried opening the game and it says it is downloading the world file that was broken, so ill wait to see if that works

Yeah if you're not signed into it, it's going to throw errors if a program tries to use the files but that only happens if the option to always keep files is disabled

Definitely tick that option on for the Documents folder if you can spare the storage space
