neither temu quality is hit or miss and honestly ugly (tbh), banana republic is overpriced and i hate their website
artvandelayimporting
This is being too kind to temu tbh
zeometer

i don't have the energy to be mean check ll bean when it's on sale or check the internet for polo ralph lauren; similar price or cheaper than BR, better quality

neither, best way to buy sweaters is secondhand. this ebay filter from PTO is a good place to start but you can adjust that filter depending on what specifically you're looking for in a sweater. Polo, Brooks Brothers, L.L. Bean may be good to add to the search too depending on what you're looking for

Lmao sorry guys i forgot to ask my question Basically are sweaters good items to get for winter seasons if so where to get them from for the most value
awburkey
awburkey4mo ago

Do i get something like a quarter zip or mock neck Or something round neck knitwear etc
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
personal preference round neck can be worn in more ways quarter zip / mock neck offer more weather protection to your neck

For a college student looking to build their closet What should I get first
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
what stuff do you currently have?
Bigelow
Bigelow4mo ago
I would avoid a zip sweater, not only do they tend to have worse longevity than pullovers (zipper = point of failure), they tend to look like a office drone outfit especially if styled poorly
weak
weak4mo ago
Currently I have one round and one turtle but the round one is very bold not as neutral like black grey for layering Turtle is a thick one from banana

counter point, there are cool zip sweaters. They're just not the office standard quarter zips https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1184573880262725653

Build it for what tho? You need to do some looking around to decide what clothes you might want to wear. If you want basic office clothes just look around at what other folks in your office/school/etc. are wearing no negative self-talk allowed
artvandelayimporting
#fashion-guides just gonna preemptively drop this here

Like for going out and stuff not everyday wear but for a bit more special occassions but not office either because for daily wear I usually rely on hoodie and sweats

I have a few sweaters in warm tones that I really like. But the colors/styles that you should buy heavily depend on your personal preferences and what direction you want to take your style

Yeah I like these ones a lot Also these
zeometer

gonna second "the colors/styles that you should buy heavily depend on your personal preferences"
weak

But material wise or quality wise what should I look for? Like merino wool cashmere etc is there really a huge difference? For me as long as it stays together I am good
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
it depends on your needs cashmere is softer, warmer and more 'luxe'
Bigelow
Bigelow4mo ago
any of the brands in the eBay link I posted will make high quality sweaters
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
merino wool is sturdier and more durable; you're less likely to need to wash it
weak
weak4mo ago
For washing is it usually hand wash for sweater or knit stuff Or do you wash them cold dry them by hanging etc
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
follow the care instructions as listed on the garment itself
weak

Alright, ill do some look around on ebay How much should I expect to pay per sweater
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
honestly i'd make a specific thread if you find a certain sweater you like
weak

Hmm
weak
weak4mo ago
This one I like
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
in general though i'd compare prices to similar goods and check for any obvious or glaring defects
Bigelow
Bigelow4mo ago
Depends. The yellow sweater I'm wearing in the pic above was $20 but it was a lucky find. Some people pay thousands for a sweater. Whatever your budget is you should be able to find something
weak
weak4mo ago
Damn thats a solid find
Bigelow
Bigelow4mo ago
That's a good looking sweater. 50 for secondhand LLB is a bit much but you can always make an offer
weak
weak4mo ago
Ideal is 30 ish right?

Bigelow

yeah around there but you can check sold listings to get an idea like this
eBay
Bigelow
Bigelow4mo ago
it's just how the sellers price them, doesn't necessarily mean one's better than the other which color do you like more? which texture on the knit? how do you feel about lambswool vs cotton? how do you feel about raglan sleeve vs drop shoulder? fwiw I like the beige one a lot
zeometer
zeometer4mo ago
honestly the beige one is really good... given that it's still winter for most people there's a lot of sweaters and knitwear in #waywt and #waywt-highlights; take a note of what you like and if there's any common themes (the color, texture, how it fits, what its worn with, etc etc) use that to figure out what you want to buy then try to figure out how much you want to pay
