Need some help understanding a circuit

I am pretty new the curcuit-making scene, and I am attempting to build a remote ignition system for some fireworks. I was looking for a way to detect if a fuse was connected to a relay and I came across this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/arduino/comments/18e5md7/continuity_detection_circuit/, this seemed to be what I was looking for but the circuit diagram didn't make sense to me. So I made it in tinkercad here https://www.tinkercad.com/things/df0s6yPbcUe-continuity-detection-circuit what I'm wondering is how this works exactly, why does the button go low when I press it? It's not connected to ground, it seems to just be open? or am I missing something?

I'd also like to know, if I use a circuit like this, and connect a much higher voltage (24v) will this fry anything or should it be safe? ok I'm still working though this, the tinkercad has changed and might not make sense anymore yeah I cant get this to work, if anyone has any ideas lmk

This is probably not permitted here due to the rules and the danger associated with fireworks: https://discord.com/channels/420594746990526466/755251766605381743

I don't see how this breaks any of those rules?

Rule #4, may be considered dangerous.

If thats the case then why would it be openly discussed on arduino, adafruit and sparfun forum, only changing "firework" to "model rocket" igniter. If I can't do that here then this community is too strict for me, I'll find another discord...

I don't know. Fireworks are dangerous. They can cause fires and people get hurt by them all the time. You can ask a moderator if the topic is OK or not. I don't make the rules, I just have to follow them just like you do. Which in this case means not discussing the remote ignition of fireworks.

either way, with some trial and error figured it out
