Enable email routing via the Cloudflare API?

Hello is it possible to enable email routing via the API? I have tested and it is not working as described here: https://community.cloudflare.com/t/nonsensical-error-message-when-enabling-email-routing/536446/4 Any hints or tips, thanks!
