the long dark and cloudsync not working.

cloudsync seems to do.....something but not syncing over save files properly. I'm wondering how much wine choices (wine-ge vs proton-ge) change the prefix path and therefore the cloudsync process? Laptop and workstation both running same versions of PopOS same versions of heroic.

wine and proton have slightly different save paths post a game log if you're still confused

yes I've discovered that, does that effect the cloudsync process or does heroic know to look in either path when syncing saves? I also noticed that TLD save path is slightly differing from what is usual. Keeping saved games in $user/AppData/Local/Hinterland I see it's trying to correct this actually:

@termdisc do differing versions of wine affect the save path (i.e. wine-GE-proton8-13 vs wine-GE-latest) ?

the different of paths is that Wine-GE uses something like .../Prefixes/your game/drive_c/... and Proton-GE uses ..../Prefixes/your_game/pfx/drive_c/... (note the pfx) all wine-ge versions handle the saves in the same path, and all proton-ge versions handle the saves in the same path

yes I had observed that but nice to get confirmation of it as well. also it seems proton-ge will default to user 'steamuser' vs actual $USER for wine-ge regardless, it seems like syncing between TLD now isn't working, even though the logs purport it to be working.

tried editing the game .json now worked! I was reversing which folder to add to which machine. Would still like to know why the GUI field is blocked out from editing. But this can be closed now, thanks for the help @termdisc

it's not blocked. just use the box on the far right side to clear and select the folder
