Outreach and Promotion in Online Communities
PauseAI - and the broader AI safety movement - can stand to gain a lot by spreading our message to sympathetic communities — on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, old-school web forums, etc.
Most of these communities have a good immune system for self-promotion/advertising, so we should be careful to only engage with them if we are bringing genuinely useful information and discussion. Nonetheless, such discussion has the secondary benefit of increasing awareness about AI safety and supporter acquisition for PauseAI. I think we saw this with some recent reddit threads about the SF event.
It'd be good to spend a bit more time proactively working on this. @Joep Meindertsma is going to start a team for such activity - reach out to him or myself if you are interested in joining! And even if not, feel free to take this on — just try to be concientous and non-spammy since you are represnting this community to the broader world.
