Help me choose a pair of Chinos

Hi everyone! I'm currently in the market for a pair of chinos, as I don't really have a pair that I like right now. My current style leans towards workwear, and I'll be planning to mostly wear these chinos in hot weather with chambray and madras shirts. I also want the pair to be wearable in the office. My two options in the running: J crew officer chinos in brown or tan https://www.jcrew.com/p/mens/categories/clothing/pants-and-chinos/chino/wallace-amp-barnes-selvedge-officer-chino-pant/AZ698?color_name=sea-sand&colorProductCode=AZ698 Levis straight chinos in khaki: https://www.levi.com/US/en_US/clothing/men/pants/levis-xx-chino-authentic-straight-fit-mens-pants/p/A57530013 I'll also take any recomendations for straight legged chinos. Thanks again!

I think something like this would look better than either of the options you listed, they're not too heavy of a fabric and something that fits a bit more relaxed will be nicer in hot weather https://bronsonshop.com/products/1930s-ivy-style-two-pleated-chino-trousers?variant=35342017560736

The trousers are made in the style of suit trousers, making them comfortable and decent to wear. The inner waist is hemmed, and the trouser leg has a 5 cm wide hem.

Hmm, not a big fan of the pleats but that price is nuts

I’m a hater. They just look messy to me! I should definitely check out bronson more. I bounced on their officer chinos because they are too wide for my skinny ass lol

it's personal preference, if you don't like pleats that's fine but I like how they add some visual interest to the pants and also make movement easier. here are those Ivy chinos in the yellow color not khaki https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191/1138286104685051915 no such thing!

That is a bomb ass fit. Maybe I just need to wear long shirts over them? I've never really worn pants with pleats so I'll take your word on the movement thing. I think I personally have a size limit lol. I have some stan rays that I find too wide, which I'm pretty sure are smaller than these chinos. My Levis 559s are my perfect width, those are like a 16 inch leg opening. I don't mind seeing really wide pants on others, but I can't stand how they look on me. They always feel baggier somehow

just something you're not used to 559s are relaxed straight though so I wouldn't recommend the J Crew ones if that's the fit you like the Levi's looks similar-ish

Looking closer at the pictures I can see the taper. Sad, I really like the colors. Levis has yet to lead me astray, I think that might be it. Something about those bronson trousers does still call to me though, I'm going to think about it. edit: Ahh nevermind. They only have short inseams Thanks for all your help!

What about J Crew giant fit? They are flat front, and not actually that "giant"

They only have them in a 30 inch inseam. Might be too wide for me too. They have a bigger leg opening than the bronson’s!

I have 3 pairs of the Wallace & Barnes chinos and I like them a lot the ones i have dont have as much taper as the light blue/grey ones do in the pic though, makes me wonder if they changed the fit. the photos of the brown pair are more accurate to the ones i have you could also try jcrew's classic fit. I want to try the giant fit but I usually wear a 34 inseam so I wonder if they'd be too short on me as well

I’ve never measured but I wear 32 inch uncuffed. People say good things about the officer chinos. I might just have to try them on. I also think J crew’s styling really emphasizes the taper

yeah I would try them on for sure. Their classic chino is also definitely worth a try, fit is very similar

Go off the size charts but I think M should work for you
