Cocktail attire - wedding
Okay, wedding invite says "cocktail attire". It's an evening, Spring wedding in NYC. What do you think, tie or no tie? Suit or separates? loafers or lace ups?
I was thinking of a beige or pink sports coat either light wool/silk/linen, no tie, spread collar, stone/grey pants, brown loafers. But I'm worried that would fly in California (where I live) but not in NY

Traditionally, cocktail attire means suit and tie. However, dress codes have shifted toward the casual side so it couldn't hurt to ask the wedding party what exactly they want
I'd suggest posting an actual picture of your outfit for feedback
Don't have an outfit yet, just been looking around. Nautilus Loafer
For best fit we reccommend going half a size down from your usual UK size. Example: UK 8,5 - Choose size 42 in this shoe.
The Cavour Nautilus loafer is our take on the classic laceless slip-on boat shoe. Hand made from brown top quality italian suede, granting superior comfort while worn sans socks. Set on top of teac-deck friendly white sole...
I personally don't like the shoes they look a bit dress sneakery. I would go for a shoe without a sneaker sole
