Display Mirroring turns off main display

I'm running GNOME Bazzite on a Framework AMD laptop. When I plug in an external display via USB-C (dp-alt), and set the display mode to Mirror in Display Settings, my laptop screen goes black (backlight stays on) and the display is mirrored on the external display. On any other Silverblue variant I try, the laptop display stays on and actively mirrors what's shown on the external display. Now, I'm not actually interested in having this fixed, as unexpected as this behavior is, it's actually kind of nice for my particular use case. What I am posting for is to try and understand why this behavior is happening, so I can turn it on/off as I desire, and enable this behavior on other Silverblue variants. Does anyone have an idea what's going on behind the scenes with this?

That is rather weird, we modify exactly none of this unless it's some kind of side effect of the displaylink module? The only patch made to GNOME is the VRR MR
