Schott P693

Does anyone have any experience with the Schott P693? I was able to try it on in their Manhattan storefront last week, and I was absolutely floored by it. The Horween Deer Touch Cowhide was unbelievably soft, with still a hefty weight to the jacket. I didn’t end up buying on the spot so I could have more time to mull it over. I’ve never owned a leather jacket, this’ll be my first, but I’ve been considering buying one for 2-3 years now. I was led to Schott as I’m generally in the “Buy it for life” camp, and saw the p693 on their website and thought it looked awesome. At $1500 (plus tax), this will really be diving headfirst into the leather jacket world. It’s not breaking the bank for me, but it will undoubtedly be the most I’ve ever spent on a single piece. All the reviews on the website seem to share my praise for it, and everything I read seems to suggest not cheaping out on it (your first leather jacket) and saving up for the one you want, which points me towards dropping the cash for it when I go back this summer. I’m 5’10”, 185 lbs. typically go for mediums and larges for jackets depending on brand and fit. Tried on a medium, was too trim in the stomach, then sized up to a large which is what these photos show. Don’t think I’ll be gaining any weight past this amount and may potentially lose some, which will give me more options for layering underneath as the large fit well but without much room for too much layering. I know it’s a touch too long in the arms but I don’t really mind

Looks too big for my taste. I like to fit more live a glove. Curious what others think

Looks good. I think it nicely fit on you but consider the price…I don’t know if it’s worth it since I don’t know much about leather products.

Personally don't think you should size down and if you're comfortable with the price this is fine. That said if you don't immediately love it it's probably worth shopping around for something you do love

Thanks for your thoughts! Makes me feel more confident in the purchase. I originally looked at it online, liked it, and did really love the jacket in person, just thought the price tag warranted some more thought before I should decide.
