Weird artifacts with BSL Shader

Hey, so I'm running into these weird flashing artifacts when using the BSL shaderpack with Iris. I first brought this up with Capt Tatsu (the shader dev), and we went through basic troubleshooting like disabling resource packs, resetting shader options and disabling all mods besides sodium and iris. Despite that, the artifacts still seem to be there. They suggested I bring the issue up in here to get some help with it.

Is this on a server?

Yes this is on a server

:linus: Does the server forces a resource pack on you?
Frankie

It does, I can try it in singleplayer

That server gives you a resource pack that contains vanilla core shaders. Those shaders are not supported by Iris... Singleplayer worlds will not show the artifacts unless you have a vanilla shaders resource pack enabled.

ahh i see okay sorry to bother again, but im just wondering why does this behavior only seem to happen with BSL and not other shaderpacks?

Give me a moment. Your video is very big, it's hard for me to check it fully.

but interestingly enough, i have a mod that disables server resource packs. so, with the resource pack disabled, i still see the artifacts just less than before

Oh, this kind of artifact. This is not related to vanilla core shaders at all... What GPU you have?

3.2.0 nvidia 551.61 looks like the latest available driver for me is 552.12, do you want me to try updating?

Driver version should be close enough to latest. Unlikely to be the cause. Any settings changed in the Nvidia control panel? At least one of the setting is known to cause issues with Minecraft shaders: Anisotropic Filtering.

i might have messed with vsync settings at one point anistropic filtering is listed as "application-controlled" in global

Okay, then I guess there's not much else I could help. Try joining the ShaderLABS server and ask for help there. Invite can be found in #software-and-tech I believe, pinned message.

BSL version 8.2.09p or other?
Frankie
FrankieOP2y ago
i see the issue on both 8.2.09p and 8.2.08

Very peculiar indeed. It's probably some kind of setting in the shaders menu for that to happen. Gonna be super difficult to find unless you go ask the people on shaderLABS.
