Panama Weave Formality

I'm looking at getting this panama weave shirt for a summer wedding I'm attending:--I'd be wearing it with either a suit, or a sportcoat and trousers. I like it because I hear these shirts are cool (as in not hot), but is the rippley color an informal touch or just fine? An alternative could be a more typical shirt in twill or broadcloth. Any thoughts?
