How to hijack the place measured template?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I'm working on modifying a couple of modules to make foundry on mobile phones work well (for 5e at least). I've made modifications to simplemobile by @Handyfon and enhancedcombathud by theripper93.

Along with the other modules I have installed it's really close to working beautifully.

The thing I'm stuck on now is trying to get measured templates to work.

So my question is how might I go about placing the measured template created by the dialog?

I've tried emulating mouse events but that hasn't worked. Maybe I'm not doing it right?

Can I reference the template that was made and force it to be placed?

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
