I'm actually experiencing something similar that I've been trying to solve. I'm on a 1.20.1 fabric build with the rc DH build. Anything that isn't connected to the ground seems to have this problem, most notably with floating islands. Once you get close enough, it clears up, but from a distance....yeah xD

Turn up vertical quality, not much else you can do

It's already on High though

Then there is not much else you can do

What's the cause of it? Because it's not happening to every floating structure. It mainly seems to come from ones that have water/ice elements falling from it?

It's ram optimizations. If DH sees that a column is already 10 stone tall, for example, it will just assume the rest is also stone to reduce ram usage. I don't know why it would be more prevalent on islands with falling stuff tho

So here's a couple of examples:

No issues, even at further steps out

But this floating terrain has icicles hanging from the bottom. At the further steps , it renders those pillars. Closer steps remove them.

Here's another example. You can see the other floating islands don't have this issue. And the icy one will resolve once you reach a closer step of LOD.

FInally, here's an example where I managed to get in fast enough before it could de-render.
