Biome colors displaying inconsistently in LODS (2.0.1a / 1.20.1)

Hi, made a post about this a while ago but didn't get a response. Seems like something to do with biome saving is borked? Is this a known problem-- anything I can do?
I initially thought it was just water color but looking at the grass in this superflat it's clear it's just biome color in general
