milsurp serge wool weight

Does anyone have any experience with vintage US milsurp serge wool pants? I'd like to have an idea of the weight of the fabric and how scratchy it is. Specifically looking into pairs made by watauga apparel corp. as I quite like my tropical polywool (pair I'm looking at is entirely wool however) milsurp trousers made by them and would like a winter pair.
