Server lag
I've hosted several MC servers over the past few years for myself and two other people. Create A&B, Better MC; and currently ATM8. All of them had off and on issues with lag, but ATM8 has been pretty bad.
All of the servers were in an LXC container on a server with a Xeon E5-2687. Simulation and view distance is currently only 6 chunks; but the server still lags so badly at times to time people out and disconnect them.
