that's not the issue, don't use proton experimental (it expects to be used in steam, that's why you see that error)
use the wine manager section in heroic:
- install the latest Wine-GE version
- set that for the game in the settings
- delete this folder
/home/deck/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/Forager
- run the game again

Hello, can i revive this thread? I have the some problem. Activated wine-ge-latest, it's fully downloaded and the game wont start.

Wine-GE is rather old now (last release is almost a year ago) and thus might not work correctly. Please follow these instructions on using GE-Proton with umu instead:
1. Head to the Wine Manager in Heroic, click the "Proton-GE" tab, and install "Proton-GE-Latest"
2. Enable umu in "Settings" (Heroic sidebar) -> "Advanced" -> "Use UMU as Proton runtime"
Note: For a visual guide, see attached image
3. Head to the settings for your game(s) (icon on game card in library). In the "Wine Version" dropdown, select "Proton - Proton-GE-latest"

Already tried that, doesnt work either. UMU is activated, proton-ge-latest is active and when i press play now it changes to launching -> playing (nothing openes) -> play now

i already have nvidia-utils and lib32-nvidia-utils through endeavourOS but installed the first two. it still wont work

This isn’t your main issue, but fix your save sync path

Are other games playable? Are all of the wine dependencies installed?
Wine dependencies don't matter with umu
Looks like their Vulkan setup isn't right though (which would mean other games won't run either)

Yeah I was thinking that because Vulkan stuff is included in the big list of dependencies, not specifically for wine itself

If you're gonna use Wine-GE, you'll need Wine Dependencies
Install Wine Dependencies by following this guide
If this does not immediately resolve your issue, you might also have to delete your Wineprefix (by default it's in
~/Games/Heroic/Prefixes/default/<game name>)
