Nuclear physics (not exam related)
In the Chernobyl reactor, if the control rods were used to absorb/slow down the neutrons, then why can't we just use the stuff the rods were made out of to reduce the radiations of the dangerous areas? Like throw a chunk of that stuff in a radioactive area to reduce the rads.. will that work?
