File question

Hey there! when i ftp into my external drive that i store all upload data on for immich i see a bunch of confusing files instead of just a single folder everything how would you go about backing up this data ( just the image and videos that are uploaded) the external drive i am using is a hdd so of course there is a chance of failure here i want to keep a backup on a 2nd drive

if i click on upload i see 100s of folders with the photos in it i dont get why there is 1 folder or something for each photo im just confused on how this stores photos im coming from a perspective of a another self hosted app i used called navidrome normally i just put all my music in one folder and it will just be in one folder only not this confusing mess what is the best way to copy these photos to a second drive from immich

By default immich does not use a friendly storage template, but this can be configured. You should read up on it here: https://immich.app/docs/administration/storage-template/ If you do this, note that the change won't apply to your old assets until you run the Storage Migration Job from the Jobs page
