Cyberpunk 2077 + Vortex Wine/Proton Versions cannot match
If you have a more appropriate place to direct me to, I would appreciate it.
I am trying to mod 2077 with Vortex. It appears Vortex requires Wine-GE-latest while 2077 requires Wine 9.20. I have played around with various versions, but I cannot get them both on the same version of something, it seems. Any suggestions?

you probably should try proton-ge-latest.. vanilla wine doesnt usually have all the fixes for games

proton-ge + umu is def the future eventually
wine-ge still works for a lot of things but i've started seeing it breaking in some games after updates to the game
it hasnt been updated in a year x_x

(since the intent is to replace it with proton-ge + umu
umu is a unified environment for proton-ge that lets all the launchers share common fixes and stuff just like steam does, without the dependency of having steam installed for its runtime

its added by heroic automatically when you enable it
atm its defaulted to off
so yeah you could try proton-ge and go to advanced options in the side bar and enable umu in the experimental section

I understand it may not.
Things are downloading.
I'll post an update after playing around.
So far, Vortex DID launch on that version of Proton.
It's having to reinstall the windowsdesktop-runtime.

yeah, using proton means your prefix structure changes so stuff hsa to get reinstalled

well the game files themselves wont be in the prefix
its wherever you installed the game

Got it.
Okay, I think it will work with Vortex now, but the current issue is when I have to sign in, it doesn't launch to browser for me to sign in, and there don't appear to be any other sign in options.
This may be a Proton issue, but not sure.

When clicking on Sign in, it either loops with nothing launching to browser, or goes to this:

oh maybe you can just bypass the launcher? i dont know anything about cp2077 so might have to wait and see if that's a common problem
you can proably tell heroic to launch the game directly
