Best practices for install inside of proxmox.

I'm am implementing a new home server that I plan to use Proxmox as the base for running everything, including docker and a nas. I was wondering if there were any complications if I have immich have the storage be in my "nas", which both running on the same physical system, just different containers?

The only best practice there is, is to not run Immich in proxmox LXCs. That's not officially supported and we have seen people with extremely random issues caused by that

Best to use a full VM for immich, such as Debian or Ubuntu

Ah, okay. That makes sence. So if I run it on docker compose inside a full vm then I should be okay then (theoretically)? Followup question: the new version of TrueNas is built on Docker and can run immich as an "app". If I install TruNas on bare metal and run immich from that, is that a supported implementation?

We still recommend just using the compose file and doing it "manually", but the result will be the same and we can debug it the same way we'd debug another install. So yeah, we may not be able to tell you which buttons to click, but overall the app should be running nicely
