Ideal NVENC Encoding Settings?

Hi all, I've inherited an RTX 2060 that I've hoped to use for Immich. Most of my videos are 1080P 50fps. I figured I'd bump the CRF a bit and set preset to slow Despite this, my videos are shocking quality😬 What are other NVENC users using for their video transcode settings? My video settings pasted below:
{
"ffmpeg": {
"crf": 23,
"threads": 0,
"preset": "slow",
"targetVideoCodec": "hevc",
"acceptedVideoCodecs": [
"hevc"
],
"targetAudioCodec": "aac",
"acceptedAudioCodecs": [

"libopus"

"targetResolution": "1080",
"maxBitrate": "8000",
"bframes": -1,

"gopSize": 0,
"npl": 0,
"temporalAQ": true,
"cqMode": "auto",
"twoPass": true,
"preferredHwDevice": "auto",
"transcode": "bitrate",

By “shocking quality”, do you mean shockingly low quality? You’re missing the k for the max bitrate, so it’s registering the number as 8000 bytes It should probably default to kbps instead when there’s no unit In terms of recommendations, I suggest setting crf to 28, preset to veryslow and bframes to 3. Two-pass mode isn’t necessary unless you want to stick close to the max bitrate

Yes. Apologies, should have been clearer. The k sounds like the missing ticket! I bumped it all the way up to 20000 and wondered how "20mbps" could be so bad. Thanks for the suggestions! Are you using nvenc and h265 with those settings? I gave two-pass a whirl because afaik it causes crf to be ignore, and I thought that might be the culprit.

I personally don’t use HWA because software gets the best results even if it does take much longer. But I’ve tested with these settings in the past and the result is very good
