what GPU do you have?
RX 290 or 390?
I think that the core to your issue is that your GPU is 11 years old, you're using the
radeon
driver, and you're on Mintcorrect-apricotOP•5mo ago
CPU: 4x Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6600 CPU @ 3.30GHz

I can read your log, but it broadly says 290 or 390
the reason I ask is that the Steam min requirements say RX 380
besides that, none of those cards support vulkan 1.3, which is used by current versions of DXVK/VKD3D

the way we are getting amd information isn't always precise, so that is showing two different gpu's
correct-apricotOP•5mo ago
yeah this ones pretty old. i was wondering if linux system + gaming would work with this setup
flat-fuchsia•5mo ago
your best bet, and there is absolutely no promise that this will work, is to stay on wine-ge and turn off dxvk and vkd3d
again, it will probably not work no matter what you do on linux. gaming on linux requires hardware that's a bit more up to date
rival-black•5mo ago
you don't really meet the minimum for this game anyway
or you're just skirting by. don't really know as you didn't answer my question

hardware on this pc is indeed old. i was just wondering if gaming in general could work with this setup. sorry for not answering the question (im using a RX 290). then ill probably try linux and gaming with my other setup, but thank you guys for the quick response and help 🙂
flat-fuchsia•5mo ago
it super depends on how old the game is, but most modern games you won't be able to play on this setup

i tried multiples including Fall Guys, Rocket League etc. only one that worked so far is Civilization vi
flat-fuchsia•5mo ago
Rocket League might work without dxvk and vkd3d

thank you 🙂 i will definitely try this!

in general gaming on linux requires fairly recent GPUs due to the vulkan dependency.. once you hit about 10 years out, even if the hardware is capable of playing a game on windows it often isnt capable on linux due to the vulkan dependency
