"An error occurred while launching this game: Compatibility tool failed"
Hi, i just installed Bazzite yesterday and everything was working great. But after resuming from sleep my Ayaneo Air enter a black screen state and i forcefully restarted it, now any game i try to launch says "Compatibility tool failed". If i switch to Proton 8.0 some games launch but many have issues. Seems like Proton 9.0 is broken. I tried verifying local files and restarting and everything checks out but all games give me "Compatibility tool failed". I have ssh access and have tried deleting everything in ~/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d/ ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton* and ~/.local/share/Steam/depotcache/* and i also cleared the download cache in steam. On next launch it seemed to completely redownload proton 9.0 successfully but im still getting "Compatibility tool failed". How do i fix this without reinstalling?
Solution
Fixed by also verifying the sniper support files. Didnt work until i cleared the folders above and verified both proton 9 and the sniper support files
